Convention room assignments and programming contents are subject to change before con, during, and through the end of closing ceremonies.

On the 1st Floor You'll Find:

  • Bridge/Master Control (Meadows – near the grand staircase).
    The Bridge/Master Control is MarsCon’s command center through the con. Bridge can (try to) answer your questions and resolve issues small and large. This is also the location of our Safety department (yellow vests) and our Medical team (blue vests).
  • The Art Show (Riverside)
    Featuring the Art Show Gallery and the Art Market. Buy or bid on art to take home!
  • Science Room (Woodlands)
    “Where does he get those wonderful toys?” The Sciene Room is tucked behind Hotel’s front desk, and it is well-worth discovering. Come and see how we are transforming science fiction to science fact. View and interact with science exhibits—models, maps and science demos!

On the 2nd Floor You'll Find:

  • Main Stage (Ballrooms III/IV)
    Ballroom is the place for big events such as Opening & Closing Ceremonies, Masquerade contest, concerts, stage performances and musical jams!
  • Dealers’ Room (Ballrooms I/II)
    Come to the Dealers’ Room for all your fantastical needful things! 
  • Makers’ Market   Located in the hallway just outside the main ballroom, you’ll find artists, authors and more wonderful things to shop for and buy. 
  • The Cantina (Exec Boardroom)
    The Cantina will host exciting and interesting panels, guest speakers including our Actor Guest of Honor, dance, simulated combat, and karaoke in the evenings – SO much happening in the cantina! (no droids allowed).
  • Masquerade Lounge (I Blue Heron Colony)
    Costume related panels, demos and discussions. Masquerade Lounge will also serve as the Green Room during the Masquerade Costume Contest on Saturday night.
  • Free Mars (II – Cardinal Perch)
    Free Mars will feature fun and fascinating programming, including talks about our favorite sci-fi/fantasy movies and t.v. series, hard sciences discussions, trivia contests, and as many other fannish topics as we can fit into the space.
  • Re(a)d Mars (III – Eagle’s Next)
    Re(a)d Mars will focus mainly on literary discussions and readings, and will also be home to our free Book Exchange
  • RPG’s – Roleplaying Games (IV – Hawk’s Ridge) This room will play host to roleplaying games throughout the weekend.
  • Creative Planet (V – Mallard Point)
    This room will feature constructive and creative crafting activities for all ages. Ideal for anyone who enjoys hands-on activities.
  • AV/Anime  (VI – Owl Overlook)
    This is a place for discussions about anime, young adult fiction and other topics of interest. The AV Room is thrilled to team up with GPS and MarsCon’s Anime/YA! Throughout the convention weekend.
  • Prop-a-Torium  (VII – White Pelican Bay)
    This room will host an extraordinary display of some of the most unusual and fabulous handmade and collected props.
  • Gaming  (VIII – Wood Duck Pond)
    Scheduled and open table top gaming. (please see our 12th Floor map for 2D Con video gaming room location).

1200 – Con Suite
Relax. Converse. Find snacks. Con Suite is where you will find assorted snacks throughout the convention. Hours will depend upon availability and energy of volunteers, but we plan to open early for coffee lovers and close late for the pleasure of our night owls. Please pitch in to keep Con Suite tidy and open longer. Many thanks to volunteers!

1202 – Valleycon 
ValleyCon is the longest-running, most attended, largest festival of popular culture – featuring sci-fi, fantasy, comics, anime, horror, gaming and film & TV – from Minneapolis to Seattle! The Fargo Fantastic Film Festival opens ValleyCon weekend on Thursday and is part of ValleyCon!

1204 – 10 Forward Lounge

Join USS Nokomis members for a drink, because everyone on board comes here.
**Party hours: Friday & Saturday from 7pm to Midnight

1205 – Krushenko’s Lounge
Krushenko’s is a space that encourages conversation about science fiction and fantasy at SF conventions. Krushenko’s, named after a Manhattan bistro in Larry Niven’s novel Ringworld, started at the 1983 Minicon, and now also travels to Diversicon in the Twin Cities and WisCon in Madison. A regular feature of MarsCon since 1999, Krushenko’s this year serves up SF-related parties in the evenings. 
Krushenko’s is accustomed to serving alien guests!

1206 – The Dude’s Abode
The Big Lebowski themed. Our room really ties the con together.

1207 – Mel’s Bachelorette Party

FRIDAY – No bachelorette celebrations on Friday, but we will be open for a casual party to celebrate all things Ryan. Come eat hot dogs, pizza rolls, drink some drinks, and have a chill time. 

SATURDAY- Mel is getting married! Please join her and her bridesmaids in celebrating with a Disney bachelorette party, convention style!

1211 – Space Oddity Music Club & Brew Pub
Celebrating 16 years of bringing snacks, beer, cocktails, and music circles to our MarsCon family.
**Party Hours: 7 pm – late

1212 – Furry Migration by MNFurs
Learn about Furries and get ready for Furry Migration in September.

1213 – IKV RakeHell’s Moolah Rouge
**Party Hours: 10pm – 2am

1214 – Crashing Course

Executive Lounge- Snarky’s Lounge
Snarky’s provides nutritious food and snacks for Guests of Honor and people who help run our MarsCon convention and fund the room. None of the food in Snarky’s is paid for out of the MarsCon budget. Not a Snarky’s member yet? Well…if you volunteer for 5+ hours during the convention, you can eat one meal in Snarky’s and give it a try. Please ask about it at our Volunteer table near Registration.

1219 – Karaoke & Desserts
Sing karaoke from a list of over 7,500 songs and enjoy a tasty snack! 
Party hours: 8pm – Midnight

1221 – Fables & Flames Tea Party
Come grab some tea, cookies, and cute sandwiches. Hang out with fellow Elves and Dragons while sipping the finest tea and eating the most delicate foods.

1222 – MNeurodivergent Sensory/ Friendship Room
Need a sensory break, a quiet space, or a chill place to meet new friends? MNeurodivergent is hosting and staffing this sensory/friendship room in partnership with MarsCon. MNeurodivergent’s mission is to reduce isolation by creating welcoming spaces that support neurodiverse people to make meaningful connections with others.

1226 – Massage Room
Sign up for a relaxing massage and spend some quiet quality time during a busy convention weekend.

1228Nomad Ghostbusters
“Okay, Who brought the dog?” – Planning on modeling the party after the Louis Tully Party in Ghostbusters
Party Hours: 8pm – 2am

1229-1230 2D Con Gaming
2D Con is an annual gathering that celebrates the world of gaming. 2D Con has partnered with MarsCon to bring you a weekend of awesome video gaming, and a party atmosphere in the evenings! Hosted by a dedicated team of volunteers, 2D Con welcomes gamers from all walks of life to come together for a weekend of fun. We focus on people and their passions. We’re more than just a convention, we’re a community.
