MarsCon is run completely by volunteers, and we couldn’t put on the convention without the help of fans like you!

Here are just some of the areas where volunteers are needed before, during, and after the Con:

  • Snarky’s Café and Consuite helpers: setting out food/plates/napkins/plasticware, swapping out trays of ice to keep the food fresh and healthy, clean up, etc., also runners to deliver snacks (to dealers, for example).
  • Badgers: checking that people have their badges displayed in convention spaces.
  • Mainstage roadies (people to help set up & tear down, before, during and after con).
  • Gaming rooms and Anime/AV room staff.
  • Trained safety and medical volunteers are always welcome.
  • Greeters: welcoming new arrivals throughout the weekend and assisting them with sign-in and badge pickup.
  • Program Ops: help hanging signs, keeping rooms tidy and water refreshed, monitoring room tech, and alerting Master Control of any abrupt schedule changes.
  • Logistics: Thursday and Friday load in and setup and Sunday afternoon/evening teardown.  These volunteers receive DOUBLE hours. (tear down hours on Sunday go toward next year’s volunteering rewards).
  • Rovers: Safety personnel that make up our safety team.

The minimum age to volunteer alone is 15.  Anyone under the age of 15 who would like to volunteer may do so with their parent/guardian with them at all times.

We will train any volunteers who need to be shown the ropes.

All volunteers will need to register for the convention.

If you’d like to help, (even if you’re not sure what area you’d like to volunteer with) please fill out the Volunteer Interest Form below.

Volunteering comes with REWARDS!

Volunteers will be set up to accumulate volunteer hours toward a prize. (MarsCon committee members are not eligible for prizes.)
Logistics volunteer hours for move in and pack out – before and after MarsCon – count double.
Regular prizes will cost time from your accumulated pool of earned hours (for example, if you have 5 volunteer hours, you can choose one 5-hour prize or five 1-hour prizes).
