Karaoke
Karaoke is a MarsCon tradition. You'll find it in the Martian Music Room (#1318) Friday and Saturday nights from 9 pm until sleepytime. Be sure to stop by Saturday night between 10:30 pm and midnight for the Karaoke Contest.
The list of available songs is larger than ever. If you're looking for a particular tune to sing to, and want to check its availability right now, click on the first letter of the title in the list below -- there's a good chance we have it!
Contest to take place Saturday, March 1st in the Martian Music Room, starting at 10:30pm SHARP and ending at approximately midnight.
Only the first 15 (fifteen) people to sign up for the contest will be allowed to compete in the contest. Sign-up sheet for the contest is located in the Martian Music Room, and sign-up begins at 9pm Friday, February 28th.
All contestants MUST be on the sign-up sheet by 10:30pm Saturday and fill out the sign-up sheet fully, including their first and last names, which song they will sing in the competition, and the Disc and Cut # of the song. Contestants may change their song choice up until 10:30pm Saturday.
All contestants may use any song in the Marscon Karaoke library, or may bring their own CDG. However, the use of Vocal Tracks is not allowed.
There will be three judges for the contest. Contestants will be judged in 3 (three) categories:
Suitability; How suitable is the song in pitch, tone, and key for the contestant's voice.
Performance; How well does the contestant sing the song, hit the right notes, etc. (NOTE: The contestant does not have to sing the song EXACTLY as the original performer, you will be judged on your own singing ability.)
Stage Presence; How comfortable is the contestant with the song and with performing in front of a live audience.
Contestants will receive between 1 (one) and 5 (five) points for each category from each judge, with a range of 9 (nine) to 45 (forty-five) possible points.
There will be prizes awarded for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. In the event of a tie, all tied contestants to be awarded prizes.
Only the winning contestant's scores will be announced. Any other contestants wishing to know their scores may speak privately with the MC after the contest.
