MarsCon 2005
"Galactic Pirates & Mercenaries"
Airport Marriott Hotel
Bloomington, MN
March 4-6, 2005
There is an art, or rather, a knack to finding MarsCon. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself toward the Mall of America, and miss ...or something...
In keeping with the Galactic Pirates & Mercenaries theme as well as tradition, MarsCon attendees will once more conduct their annual treasure-hunt-of-sorts to find the new hotel. MarsCon 2005 will be taking place at the Airport Marriott Hotel, a (surprise!) new venue, just across the parking lot from the Mall of America. Or, search for IKEA and look north.
Here's a Treasure Map of sorts. Click it if you want a large printable image.
The Minneapolis Airport Marriott is located at 2020 American Boulevard East, Bloomington, Minnesota, by Interstate 494 and 24th Avenue South. It is adjacent to the Mall of America and conveniently near the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport. The hotel offers a free shuttle to both. For your dining pleasure, the Airport Marriott features an on-site restaurant, Bistro 79, and Legend's Field Sports Bar. There is a gift shop, a full business center, a health club, and a domed atrium with an indoor pool and whirlpool. All meeting space (including con suite, parties, science room, dealers room, art show, films, registration, etc...) will be on the first floor of the hotel. For further information about the Airport Marriott, check out Marriott's web site.
Sleeping room rates at the Airport Marriott for MarsCon weekend will be $79 + tax per day. To reserve a sleeping room at the Airport Marriott, call 952-854-7441 or 1-800-228-9290, and make sure to mention "MarsCon" in order to get the reduced rates. The cutoff for special MarsCon room rates is Monday, February 28, 2005, at 3:00 pm CST -- don't be late! Taking a room at the hotel is a wonderful way to enhance your convention experience. It gives you a home base, a place to park your stuff, entertain friends, and land whenever you finish with partying throughout the convention weekend...not to mention it makes the host hotel very happy with our multifarious convention.
