Come join others like you afflicted with the love of lace, satins, etc.! This is where you can enjoy costuming-related programming, then sit and chat, speaking the language of costume lovers everywhere (watered satins, ruching, bum rolls, doublets, vambraces -- that sort of thing). Share your costuming hints and tips, discuss your most recent designs and constructions with those who want to know, "How DID you DO that?" Bring your most precious photos and/or portfolios to share. If you have favorite VHS or DVD movies, action figures or book illustrations, bring them as well. Need some help yourself?? Pick the brains of some of the best costumers in the area. Have you enjoyed Karaoke Joe's at MarsCon in previous years? Join us again Friday and Saturday nights for the rockin' parties. We will keep on singing from 9:00pm until at least 2:00am. Once again we will have a contest beginning at 11:00pm Saturday night. The first 15 applicants will be accepted. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Not planning to enter Saturday Night's contest? We're looking for 3 individuals who would like to serve as judges for the contest. People who have performed at Karaoke Joe's in the past will be given priority. The final choices will be made by the MC, Ben Lessinger. Sign up at the party for either before 9:30 Saturday night. Krushenko's (13th floor, Concierge Lounge) and its sometime partner, Krushenko's Annex (Room 1331), are spaces that encourage conversation about science fiction and fantasy at SF conventions. Krushenko's, named after a Manhattan bistro in Larry Niven's novel Ringworld, started at the 1983 Minicon, and now also travels to CONvergence, Diversicon, and Arcana in the Twin Cities as well as OddysseyCon and WisCon in Madison, A regular feature of MarsCon since 1999, Krushenko's (with help from the Annex) this year serves up panels and discussions about SF in literature and other media in the daytimes, and conversational SF-related parties in the evenings. "Krushenko's is accustomed to serving alien guests!"
