Leonard Nimoy Memorial Blood Drive at MarsCon
Many fans have asked what they can do to honor the memory of our beloved Mr Nimoy. The crew of the USS Nokomis and MarsCon are dedicating the 10th annual blood drive to his memory. Your one donation can save up to three lives – a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much to so many.
Blood donation is easy. It takes about an hour of your time. The blood drive hours have been extended to 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to accommodate additional donors for this special event. We anticipate that the day will be very busy, so claim your appointment time early by calling Jane at 651-283-6736 or visiting www.redcrossblood.org. You may also sign up for a time in the USS Nokomis room (531) on Friday evening or come down to the hotel lobby on Saturday to sign up for an open appointment time (if any).
Thank you for saving lives while honoring a great man.
Donate to the COPD Foundation in Honor of Leonard Nimoy
Leonard passed due to end-stage Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). In the past few years he has worked to educate the public on the dangers of smoking, the leading cause of the disease. He tweeted numerous statements like, “Don't smoke. I did. Wish I never had. LLAP (Live Long and Prosper)”.
In lieu of flowers, his family has asked that donations to several charities, including the COPD Foundation, be considered. The Foundation’s mission is to educate, prevent and cure COPD and improve the lives of those affected by COPD. Donations to the COPD Foundation will be accepted by USS Nokomis members during the Leonard Nimoy Memorial Blood Drive from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the hotel lobby. If you wish to send your donation directly, the address is: COPD Foundation, 20 F Street NW, Suite 200A, Washington, DC 20001
