Happy New Year!

Happy Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day, & Presidents' Day!

Hello to all of you, and a special hello to all the friendly folks at Con of the North! Con of the North is a fellow volunteer-run Minnesota convention which is dedicated to gaming. We hope that all of you attending it this weekend have a great time, and the Con does very well. In the spirit of gaming, here's the latest in MarsCon gaming news:

* GAMING * MARSCON * GAMING * MARSCON * GAMING * MARSCON *

WHITE WOLF LARPer SEEKING OTHER WHITE WOLF LARPers - I suppose I should tell you who I am. My name is Erika Hale. I actually live in Montana, but I'm going to be visiting Minnesota for MarsCon. Which brings me, rather abruptly, to my point.

I am trying to organize a Live-Action Roleplaying (LARP) game at MarsCon. I am a member of the Camarilla, the official fan club for White Wolf and also an international roleplaying organization. The club is organized into regions, domains, and chapters. I am a member of a chapter in Montana (and as of this writing, the only). I am looking to represent the Camarilla at MarsCon and possibly arrange for a chapter to be started somewhere in Minneapolis/St. Paul.

To tell you a bit about the LARP, and the Camarilla: There are several venues to play in the Camarilla, which correspond with the individual games that White Wolf publishes. The Kindred (vampire) venue has two sections, the Cam/Anarch and Sabbat venues. There is the Garou (werewolf) venue, Wraith, Changeling, and Mortal venues as well.

I will hopefully be organizing a LARP game at MarsCon. If you are interested in playing, please contact me at the address below so I can have at least some idea of how many players I will have. More details regarding the times and nature of the game will be stated later.

I will gladly answer any questions you may have regarding the game, or the Camarilla. Anyone interested in playing should contact me at this email address larpcon@hotmail.com for more information.

For information on White Wolf, and the Camarilla, please visit these websites:

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

OTHER GAMING NEWS - As usual, we are seeking suggestions & volunteers for games, LARPs, and other gaming-related activities for MarsCon 2000. Please contact us if you are particularly interested in participating in the above LARP or some other gaming event, or if you have any suggestions, questions, or would like to volunteer to run a game or be a gaming judge.

LAST CALL FOR ARTWORK! - MarsCon needs artwork for con T-shirts, Volunteer T-shirts, badge art, publications, etc... Now's YOUR LAST CHANCE to sharpen those pencils, dust off that mouse and get to work! All art must be submitted in camera-ready form by March 1, 2000. The artists whose work is selected will be praised in our Program Book and provided with gratis copies of the final printed form for their portfolios. Please contact us through our P.O. Box or at communications@marscon.com if you have questions.

WE'RE LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD FEN - Yes, we need volunteers! No volunteer-run convention can happen without volunteers. One hour, one day, or whatever time and talents you have to offer will be appreciated. Volunteer for the fun, volunteer to contribute to fandom, or volunteer for the perks (free buttons, free t-shirts, discounts, etc...) -- doesn't matter to us, just volunteer! Send us a Volunteer Form, or contact us at volunteers@marscon.com, or write us at our P.O. Box. You WILL be contacted!

CONCOM MEETING INVITATION - Our next ConCom Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, February 20, 2000, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Anoka County / Northtown Central Library located in Blaine, Minnesota. With only THREE months to go, we'll be really getting down to business. This meeting is open to everyone, and we encourage you to attend and become more involved in planning MarsCon 2000.
