Fellow Mars Enthusiasts:
Greetings & salutations! The buzz from MarsCon 2000, CONvergence and Diversicon is slowly dulling to a faint hum, and once again it is time to get down to the business of convention planning. MarsCon 2001 is scheduled for the weekend of May 11-13, 2001, and here's the latest...
Announcing "Official 2001 Guests of Honor"
It's Time To Book Your Rooms - The Radisson South is now accepting reservations for sleeping rooms for MarsCon 2001. Call the Radisson at 612-835-7800 or 800-333-3333 and be sure to tell them you're with MarsCon to get the convention room rate. In addition, we will have the pool-side cabanas available for groups or individuals hosting a party.
Once again, our very own Mistress of Mischief Malasondra will be taking requests for party cabanas. As always, she will need to know when you are coming in, and whether you have a preference for 1st or 2nd floor. Cabanas need to be booked for the weekend, so although you do not need to throw a party in the room both nights, you must take the rooms from Friday to Sunday. The deadline for cabana requests will be April 23, 2001. Please contact MarsCon directly through one of the methods listed below if you wish to reserve a party cabana.
We Need You! - MarsCon is run by volunteers, meaning a group of people who do not receive pay for doing what we do. Our rewards are the satisfaction of throwing a great convention and the joy we get from meeting and partying with other fans who come to meetings and to the convention itself who share many of the same interests in science fiction, fantasy, gaming and what have you... There are many opportunities for volunteerism before and during MarsCon, and we encourage you to get involved. Right now we especially need volunteers to help out with or run the following departments:
Any assistance you offer will be greatly appreciated. Please contact us through any of the methods listed below, or just show up for a meeting. We'd love to meet you!
Good News About Meetings!! - Beginning this month MarsCon ConCom meetings will be held at the Radisson South Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota. We're excited about this move since it will give us a better opportunity to envision and plan the convention. It's a centrally-located place to hold meetings which makes it easier for folks to attend. And, most importantly, the Rad is going to let us use the hot tub after one of our meetings! Here is a link to info about & directions to the Radisson South.
Next Meeting - The meeting will take place on Sunday, September 17, 2000, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Radisson South Hotel (room Atrium 4). We'll probably go out afterward for dinner/munchies.
Upcomin Events - Here are dates & locations for the next few meetings. Also, please join us for an outing to the Renaissance Festival on its very last day, Sunday, September 24, 2000. A bunch of us will be meeting at the gate between 9:00 & 10:00 a.m. Here's a link to RenFest's official web site for more info.
See you there!
