MarsCon Masquerade 2007
Masquerade Judging
A. Experience Categories
#1. YOUNG FAN
-
All contestants 12 years old and younger. The Contestant will be judged on presentation. The contestant does not have to have made his/her own costume. The person who does construct it is eligible for a workmanship or prop award.
These following categories are a MAJOR CHANGE from previous years' categories. We hope to simplify and speed up the judging process (and do away with the confusion in definitions of just who is a Novice, Journeyman, and Master. You (and your group) may enter either category, but if you have any members in your group that has entered before, and/or has had experience you must enter in the Experienced category.
#2. BEGINNER
-
If you have just started costuming, or have only been at it a few years, feel free to consider yourself a beginner. But if you have entered other contests, and especially if you have won awards here or elsewhere, you should not consider yourself a beginner. If you have questions, please ask when you register for the masquerade.
#3. EXPERIENCED
-
You have been at this awhile. You have had some experience here or elsewhere, and possibly won awards. Especially if you've won here or else where. And especially if you have done this (semi-) professionally.
B. Awards Categories (and judging criteria for each category)
1. Presentation
-
This is your 'performance' on stage, when you display yourself and/or your group. Presentation is limited to 30 seconds per person, or 60 seconds per group. Anyone exceeding the 30-60 limit will have their music pre-empted by the 'Stargate' theme, and will be escorted off the stage by Stargate personnel. (Exceptions MUST be ok'd by the Masquerade Director in advance).
