AnytimeAnywhereLinoSpotters
This is pretty simple (and voluntary) and anyone can do it. If you hear a good line, or pull a line out of context, write it down. Include who said it and when, with whatever minimal amount of context is necessary. Ask the person or persons who said it if we have permission to use the quote, and if the quote is accurate. Turn it in at one of the drop boxes located in strategic places throughout the con space. Quotes will be compiled in a publication either during or after MarsCon.

4:00 p.m.Krushenko'sSelf Publishing and Alternative Publishing
One approach to getting your writing to the public is by publishing it yourself. No matter if you are making a short-run 'zine or an international best seller, self-published authors will discuss the ups and downs of publishing your own works. There are also alternatives to traditional publishers. Sales of e-books have increased in the last year. Learn how to find the royalty-paying, non-subsidy e-publishers and small presses, which ones are open for submissions, what to look for in a contract, and how to promote your book to readers once it's been released.

3:00 p.m.Program 2Asymmetric Warfare in SF and Fantasy
The term “asymmetric warfare” is being used a lot these days to discuss terrorist and guerrilla actions. Military fantasy often involves large armies arrayed under bright banners; military science fiction often involves fleets of spaceships, battalions of super-tanks, etc. Yet the fantasy and SF genres also include tactics such as sabotage, ambush, and the targeting of civilians. We will discuss where asymmetric warfare is portrayed realistically (and unrealistically) and how its ethics are explored. Is Frodo Baggins an anti-Mordor terrorist?
