Scott has an impressive background with its diversity and depth. He graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1979 with a degree in Illustration with a minor in Advertising. For seven years, Scott worked at his local newspaper, The Muskegon Chronicle, learning four-color printing. In 1990 Scott made the jump into professional comics. His first gig landed him a two-year stint working on the Tiny Toons property, followed by doing illustrations for TSR and paintings, trading card artwork, and interior pages on X-Men Adventures. Scott did a two-issue run for Valiant’s Solar, Man of the Atom, then worked on merchandise for Batman: The Animated Series under DC Comics. Cartoon Network hired Scott next to work on projects featuring characters from Space Ghost, Looney Tunes, Johnny Quest, Scooby Doo, Dexter’s Laboratory, Small Soldiers, Prince of Egypt, and others. Put off by the ups and downs of working with all these companies, Scott wanted to do a creator-owned project. He went to Arrow Comics in Flint, Michigan, and pitched the idea of August to Editor-In-Chief Randy Zimmerman. August made it into an anthology and two of its own issues in 1999. Some of Scott’s recent work has involved artist sketch cards for X-Men 3, Xena, and Marvel’s Avengers. Scott enjoys sharing his art and techniques, especially with young artists. He has taught art to summer campers, and was an Artist in Residence at the Muskegon Museum of Art. Recently he’s given seminars at the Strong Museum of Play in Rochester, New York.
