A/V Room

Have (an) Indie film(s) that you would like to screen at Marscon 2022? Submissions are now open untll Feb 1, 2022.

All entries must meet Marscon Rules for consideration. By entering or submitting a film to Marscon, the Filmmaker acknowledges and agrees to all of the following terms:

  1. All entries must be original works created & owned by the Filmmaker.
  2. There are no entry fees for any submission. Never. Ever.
  3. Deadline is 11:59pm CT, Feb 1st, 2022. No Entries will be accepted after this time.
  4. Films submitted in previous years are automatically reconsidered - please do not resubmit them.
  5. Submissions can be any have a unlimited run time.
  6. TRAILERS - Are not welcome, must be a finished film.
  7. GENRE LIMITATIONS: The Festival is open to all genres. However since Marscon is a Science Fiction / Fantasy con your have a better chance if one or more of the following genres: Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, Action/Adventure or Supernatural. Fan-Films, Music Videos, Comedies, Animations, Dramas and/or Documentaries set within.
  8. Films in languages other than English, must have English subtitles or English dubbing.
  9. All entries be able on DVD or Blu-ray and be to be played on Blu-ray player. We do not we have no way of projecting 4K films at this time.
  10. Submitting a film, the Filmmaker warrants that he or she owns all rights to the Entry and the material contained therein and further grants to MarsCon the following non-exclusive, irrevocable licenses to screen the Entry as part of MarsCon or at other events conducted by Marscon in perpetuity and through-out the Universe; to screen (at MarsCon’s discretion) the entry, via any form or media; limited publishing (less than 2000 words) for promotional purposes of the name, likeness, voice or image of the filmmaker(s), cast, crew, biographies of the same, still images and plot synopsis of the Entry as well as any other information about the Entry and/or its cast and/or crew. Filmmaker also warrants MarsCon to be able to screen there film at any future MarsCon events over the years.
  11. Entries submitted are not guaranteed to be screened. Screened entries will be chosen by the A/V Film Crew. Entries which meet MarsCon Rules, but are not selected for the current year’s MarsCon, will be automatically entered for consideration into subsequent year of MarsCon and may be choose to screen at a future MarsCon.
  12. Filmmaker will hold harmless and indemnify MarsCon, its assigns, partners, subsidiaries and its sponsors, including but not limited to MarsCon or FenSF, LLC its assigns, partners, subsidiaries and its sponsors from any claim of liability resulting from any screening of the Entry your film at MarsCon.

The A/V room is happy to partner with GPS once again to bring you some great films throughout MarsCon. See Geeky classic films. The A/V room is always looking for Volunteers / Minions if you what to help out. By helping out and covering a movie for us, you get a cool “Film Crew” Ribbon.

A note to parents / guardians, please be aware that there might be “R” and “NR” rated films that will be shown, throughout this weekend, please if you do not what your children to see “R” or “NR” rated films, please keep them out of the A/V room at the time they are shown. We do not have time to check to make sure there are no underage people watching films. Also, some “NR” films might not be suited for children, if you have any questions, please ask at the A/V room’s Film Crew. (Film Crew will have ribbons on their badges that say “MarsCon Film Crew”.)

Distant Calling Pictures

Distant Calling Pictures eturns to Marscon 2022 for a 2-hour screening and Q & A. On Sat. March 12, 2022 at 1 pm A Return of Minnesota film-making team DISTANT CALLING PICTURES, which is proud to present selected works for your viewing enjoyment. This 90-minute program will consist of short films ranging from drama, horror, dark comedy, and action. Q&A with filmmakers to follow.

The Forces of Darkness shall safely assemble in front of screens on March 12th - 14th, 2021

MarsCon is a fan-run science fiction convention for all ages held every March in the Twin Cities area. At MarsCon you’ll find panel discussions, parties, guest of honor presentations, music of many kinds, our art show, film/anime room, science room, dealers room, charity auction, and masquerade. Our comedy music track is virtually a con in itself, and attracts a nation-wide audience.
