The Cow Jumped Over The Mars

Mars Today Extra - February 2003

Hi, folks! Just a few short notes since MarsCon is only a week away!!

HOTEL

Reminder that we're at a different hotel from last year, the Holiday Inn Select, Bloomington, Minnesota. If you are using mapquest or some similar method to find your way, the exact address is:

Holiday Inn Select
3 Appletree Square
Bloomington, MN

The hotel is just off Interstate-494, at the corner of 34th Avenue South and 80th Street. If you head to last year's hotel, you will pass right by us.

FOOD

The hotel will be offering late-night buffets and a snack bar with pizza, hot dogs, etc... throughout the convention weekend. For more info see: http://marscon.org/2003/hotel.html.

PARTIES HEADS UP!

The coaxial connections on all hotel televisions are locked pursuant to an agreement with their satellite provider. This makes it impossible to use the sets for hooking up to a VCR or karaoke machine. Please plan accordingly.

Due to unforseen events, a couple parties had to be juggled around very recently. The current parties map appears on the web and will appear in the Program Book.

ART SWAP

Remember to bring art for the Art Swap taking place on Saturday. Can't remember why you bought that piece over your sofa? Here's your chance to trade it for something new and maybe even better!

CHARITY AUCTION

Please bring your donations for the Charity Auction to Ops as early as possible during the convention so there is time to organize and inventory before the event.

MARS-QUERADE

Please enter the Masquerade eventhoughyouthinkyourcostumeisn'tgoodenough. Participation is the key to Masquerade. The more participation, the more fun the event. Besides, you may walk away with an unexpected prize!

MARSCON TODAY

We're hoping to put together one or two issues at the convention, with your input. There will be drop boxes by Registration where you may submit articles, anecdotes, observations, doodles, things you overheard at con, hi-lights, reviews, stories...you get the idea. Here's your chance to be a roving reporter and share your experiences with other attendees. Come and play.

REGISTRATION

At the door registration for the weekend is available. *Adults $50 or Children (6-12) $25 At the Door. Day pass rates are as follows: $20 for Friday-only; $25 for Saturday-only; $20 for Sunday-only. Pre-registration for and news about MarsCon 2004 will also be available at the convention.

LAST CONCOM MEETING

The last MarsCon 2003 planning meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Select, I-494 & 34th Ave S, Bloomington, MN, on Sunday, February 23, 2003, 1-4pm. Last one there is a Pak'ma'ra!

ART SHOW ORIENTATION

For those of you who haven't done the art show before, we'd like to have an orientation session at the hotel. If you're interested, you can find us at the Holiday Inn Select at 3:30 p.m. on February 23. That's the Sunday before the convention. Nora will be giving a basic outline of the mechanics of working the art show and you can even put in your bid for scheduled times. If you can't make the 23rd, we'll also have a quick session before the show opens on Friday, February 28.

LAST-MINUTE PROGRAMMING ADDITIONS

We've recently added a few more programming events, including:
** A discussion of the Space Shuttle Columbia
** Starship Exeter's "The Savage Empire"
** Xenaversity of Minnesota's premiere of "Xena Silent Movie" followed by Xena Music Videos
** Star Wars fan film "Broken Allegiance" screening

Forget your troubles, c'mon, get happy! We're gonna chase all your blues awayyyyyy........

See you soon!
